By the end of Level 1, students will be able to give and obtain personal and non-personal information and give opinions and feelings related to personal life, daily routines, likes and dislikes, eating and drinking habits, life style and past events. Students will be able to understand short written texts, simple narratives and adapted information from newspapers or magazines related to traveling, life style, families, places, food and memories. Students will be able to identify simple, factual oral information consisting of numbers, times, dates, prices, words, the spelling of names, jobs, people’s description, shopping, food preferences and leisure activities. Students will be able to write authentic messages such as e-mails and narratives about people, routines and memories and past events. Students will be able to use some Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as part of their process of becoming responsible for their own learning.

 

By the end of Level 2, students will be able to read and show comprehension of written paragraphs about life experiences, journeys, places around the world, activities people can do in different places, health, and dangerous jobs. Similarly, students will be able to listen to and understand simple oral texts such as descriptions and stories about traveling, festivals, leisure activities, health issues, and job and life experiences. Additionally, Students will produce written and oral texts such as interviews, short presentations, and everyday conversations pertaining to their social, academic and professional contexts. They will also be able to use ICTs and learning strategies to become responsible for their own learning.

By the end of level 3, students will read and show understanding of written texts related to relationships, jobs, education, tourism and health. Similarly, they will listen to recordings and talks about motivations in certain companies, job interview, life decisions, talents, tourism, and will show their understanding through different activities. Students will write paragraphs with appropriate sentence structures regarding work experience, work-life balance, talents and trips. Students will orally describe and give opinions about their personal life style, happiness, their majors, their own and other people’s talents, tourism and health. The students will use learning strategies and self-monitoring to become responsible for their own learning. Finally, students will use Communication Technologies (ICT) to support their learning processes "Discipline and commitment are the key for the success of this level"

L4

By the end of level 4, you will be able to read and analyze written texts related to social issues such as work, holidays, technology, nature, products and history. Similarly, you will use critical thinking to predict information, and listen to recordings and talks about work, holidays, technology, nature, products and history to draw conclusions. You will produce two written compositions in which you will have to contrast positive - negative aspects of places, and provide a solution to a problem in terms of nature respectively. You will orally describe and give opinions about 21st century topics as jobs, inventions and products. You will use information, communication, technologies (ICT) and learning strategies to become responsible for their own learning.

Exit Profile

By the end of level 5, students will show understanding of written and oral texts related to global culture, the use of color in life, music, performing, globalization and its effects, water issues, academic and professional opportunities among cultures and gender, global gastronomy and tourism.   Students will critically analyze cultural aspects of some countries, impact of color on culture and effects of globalization.  Likewise, students will make predictions and talk about their future, discuss and share their opinions on healthy lifestyles and reflect on the impact of tourism. Students will use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and learning strategies to become responsible for their own learning. Similarly, students will write a cause and effect essay, identifying causes or effects of topics related to globalization, color, culture, music, job opportunities, gastronomy or mass tourism.

By the end of level 6, students will show understanding of written and oral texts related to the use of technology in people´s life as well as different aspects such as music, entertainment, solving problems, crime and describing events.   Similarly, students will produce written compositions in which they share their arguments in favor and against aspects of technology worldwide. Students will orally expose their findings regarding ecofriendly houses from the future, unresolved mystery, mass media and movies. Students will also show understanding of texts related to places, living away from home, riddles, mysteries, crimes, news, mass media, photography and films. Students will use Information, Communication Technologies (ICT) and learning strategies to become responsible for their own learning.

By the end of level 7, students will demonstrate a solid understanding of written and oral texts related to relationships and attitudes of people, news, stories, appropriate technology around the world, customs and behaviors, social and urban development, issues in society or in developing countries, and alternative travel. Similarly, students will produce one written composition in which they analyze and explain problems and propose solutions to diverse issues around the world. Students will talk about varied topics from their own experiences and propose solutions to problematic situations. Students will use Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) and learning strategies to become responsible for their own learning.
